The future governor of california once said in the past "I'll be back!".... I wish I had too... In any case i am most definitely back and at it...

Am trying to get my hands on Aparna Sen's "Mr and Mrs. Iyer"....anyone know where this is being screened?

hmm... like a moth to a freakin' flame i tell u... what do you call something that gets burned badly and then heads directly back over ... its almost masochistic... which is a theory that could (as much as it scares me) explain everything....

So I am sure all sentient life in the universe has by now heard the origin-of-the-pink-floyd-name trivia question .... i think humans are adapting to have that knowledge genetically passed on to future generations... So considering the Pink Anderson and Floyd council are traditional blues bands, you would think PF would have at some point in their long illustrious career played a single traditional blues number... well no such luck... but I recently found a piece that morpheus claimed is a "Pink Floyd Blues Jam"... I was of course skeptical... and therefore I was forced to talk to Sriram Narayanan a.k.a. "pro show" who is the ultimate authority on all floyd related stuff... apparently it so happened in one of their concerts that they had technical difficulties with their backup instruments etc... therefore... the band got together and "jammed" till they could get the stuff fixed.... i know.. I also asked him which floyd era it was... but he doesnt know... if anyone does ... please drop me a line...

Another thing that is kinda interesting that Steely Dan...one of my all-time-favorites... also did the exact same thing... i mean exactly the same thing... that piece ...viz. their technical-difficulties-blues-jam used to be on the web too until the big bad recording companies started waving legal notices in the air...am trying to get my hands on that now... fingers are crossed...

Intrestingly though.. Arpit who was sitting with us and watching the movie Being John Malkovich was actually more drunk than we thought.... In a dark room filled with three girls and 4 guys, he decided it would be fun to lunge across one of the women and head-butt an other one for no apparent reason... after drinks had been spilled and the women had been scared sufficiently, we still had to physically restrain him to prevent him from rushing them(the women)...

Now i seriously think he needs to get his ass-whooped once to realize that this kinda behaviour is not socially acceptable... If it were up to me...that is..on the other hand.. Karan (who is arpits brother and was sitting there) seems to see the humor in the whole thing as well.. I tell you the world is filled with freakin' nut-jobs...
saw Being John Malkovich this past weekend. Had forgotten what a weird movie it was. Enjoyed watching it again though. And by an odd coincidence, those whack-jobs that run the "MTV loveline" were talking about transsexuals on 96rock that same day. Personally i think the whole concept of a "woman trapped in a mans body" or vice versa, is just complete bullshit... Anyone who goes to a doctor and wants his dick removed needs to have his head examined...

Started on a book by Carl Sagan called The Demon-Haunted World: Science As a Candle in the Dark. Pretty interesting stuff... talks about the differences between science as a method of making sense of the universe against relegion to do the same..

will write review when done with it...

talked to mon amigo from "my saald days when i was green in judgement":)... balaji subramaniam... was an awesome footer player...and overall athlete... well anyways...as is wont to happen when two iitians get together..conversation turned to question of lack of female company... :)... (big surprise huh?)...well anyways... felt a lot like IIT again... talking about losers Tom Dick and Harry who got to hook up with hot chicks whereas fine decent and upstanding young men like us remain relegated to the darwinian reject pile...

got me to thinking btw...that inspite of the considerable amount of time spent in high-estroegen environments... i still remain "plurally challenged"... makes me wonder if there is something more i need to "seal the deal" as it were...but its totally not fair... right when it came to crunch time.... people went and changed the rules on me...and left totally underqualified to play the game...

anwyays... rants again... methinks i need to get me a life...

boring day... bought myself a celeron 1.3 gig for about 325$ today... i am hoping to install linux on it soon... get myself a copy of tetex and the gnu c ompilers and i should be all set to work at home... i hope all the savings on fuel will pay for the comp soon..

had long chats with both v-man and sonali yesterday... with v-man the conversation went into religion, god ..the mind matter problem and suchlike... v's ideas on such things are reaching a level close to what i had when i decided... to fuck all that and enjoy life... wonder what will happen to him? The conversation with sonali was easier on the brain... but we talked about another of life's unanswerable questions...viz " what, in gods name goes on inside the female mind"... and then she asked me things that i cant stop thinking about... was momentarily nonplussed when she asked me..anyways.. its a complicated world we live in folks...best thing to do is to try and have fun and not notice boredom
